Glue Laminated Beams

This pedestrian bridge is a simply supported curved beam structure The form of this laminated bridge derived from the site conditions. The banks of the canal are uncompacted fill so the bridge was designed to allow for the footings to settle without damaging the structure. A curved beam provided the minimum clearance needed under the bridge for boating.

The primary elements of the bridge, a pair of glue laminated jarrah beams, are separated by steel angle diaphragms while steel angle diagonals running under the deck brace the bridge longitudinally. The footings are reinforced concrete pads.
