Timber Research Unit, School of Architecture, University of Tasmania  
The Timber Research Unit is an industry funded, strategic research facility of the School of Architecture. The Unit's aim is to foster the use of timber as a building material that is efficient, economic, environmentally sustainable, and socially responsible. To achieve this, the Unit works closely with the building design professions and the national timber industry to conduct a wide range of educational, research and consultancy activities. School of Architecture, University of Tasmania  
The School of Architecture has a special interest in three broad areas of research, which are ecologically sustainable development; history and theory of architecture, landscape and urbanism; and timber in design and construction. The School offers an integrated architectural education combining design studio with support studies in history, theory, technology and professional practice.
